Safeguarding

Our safeguarding practices ensure that all children, young people, and adults are protected and supported with respect and compassion.

About Us

At St Mary’s, we are committed to creating a church community where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported. Safeguarding is at the heart of our care for one another and is an essential part of our calling to live out the love of Christ. We believe that children, young people, and adults at risk should be able to participate fully in the life of the church without fear of harm or abuse.

We follow the safeguarding policies and guidance of the Church of England and the Diocese of London, working to the highest standards of care and accountability. This means that all clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children, young people, or adults at risk are safely recruited, trained, and supported in their roles. Our safeguarding practice is regularly reviewed and monitored to ensure it is effective and responsive.

If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person, or adult, please speak to our Parish Safeguarding Officer in confidence. You can also contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Team directly for advice and support. We want to assure you that all concerns are taken seriously and will be handled with sensitivity, respect, and care.

Safeguarding is not just about policies and procedures — it is about the way we live together as a community of faith. At St Mary’s we want everyone to know that they belong, that they are protected, and that their voice will be heard.
